I previously explored Dhavi's character on a multimuse but anxiety led me to believe I was annoying people who didn't follow me for Dragon Age/Lavellan shenanigans, so I moved her to her own blog. I love plotting. Let's talk about our barbies and how they fit together. Let's talk about those small moments that just don't justify a whole thread, or let's talk about what direction we want a thread to go in! Let's make pre-existing relationships or discuss together what we each want from a dynamic. There's no such thing as 'bad' plotting—if we disagree, at least we know where we both stand, and that's better than not knowing. I will never be offended if an idea you have doesn't mesh with you or your interpretation. If I wanted to do everything my way, I'd just write fic.

I use single small font and bold and italics for emphasis, beta editor only. I love the use of icons, but they aren't necessary and if my partner isn't using icons neither will I. I will cut our threads, regardless of whether or not you do, and it won't offend me if you don't. If you ever need any of this adjusted for our threads, please let me know!

terminology

A quick note about terminology not used on this blog. Aside from this explanation, I will not personally use the terms alienage, phylactery, or mana on this blog, despite their prevalence in the source material. "Alienages" will be referred to as elven communities, as the real-world use of the term carries troubling associations. "Phylactery" and "mana" are appropriated terms; the former will be called "reliquaries" and the latter will be referred to as "magical energy" or "magic pool" as relevant.

writing speed

Although I am almost always on this hellsite, this is and always will be a hobby first. This is what I do for fun, and Dhavi's blog specifically is intended to be extremely self-indulgent for me. As a result, I don't ever want to feel like anyone is owed anything. I am not owed replies in a timely manner by you, and you are not owed replies in a timely manner by me. I write what I have muse for. Only friends may bully me for replies, and they know who they are. That said, if you think I have missed something, one poke will always be allowed. Tumblr eats notifications all the time, and I'll appreciate making sure I saw something.

mains & exclusives

I don't do exclusivity very easily, if at all. Exclusivity requires extensive plotting between our muses, to the extent that I feel it would be uncomfortable to try to write Dhavi with another version of the same character, and it must be mutual. That said, I do appreciate mains! Mains lets me know I can come to you with plot ideas whenever they pop up. I prefer to keep canon character mains to no more than 2-3 at a time, and I prefer mains to be mutual.

If it's not obvious I ship Solavellan, idk what to tell you. That said, it's not the only ship I'm interested in, and I will not assume a romantic relationship with any Solas rper unless you have made it abundantly clear that you're interested in that with Dhavi. In general, I am terrified of being perceived as forcing a ship, so I tend to err on the side of caution and assume the other side is not interested unless they blatantly tell me otherwise. Please send me shippy memes first or just hit me with a brick if you're interested in shipping.

I read rules before following, but I sometimes forget what people need tagged, particularly if it doesn't come up very often for me. I tag anything literally not suitable for a boss to see as "#nsfw //" though smut is unlikely to be written on this blog.I will not rp dubcon, rape, or sexual assault. It's one thing if it is mentioned as something that has already happened, but I am not interested in writing it out or participating in plots where that's a strong theme. non-inquisitor aus

At this time I do not have an AU available where Dhavi is not the Inquisitor. I also do not have an AU available where Dhavi is not First/Keeper of Clan Lavellan. These are two aspects of her that are very important to her character and her story, and I don't see myself changing that any time soon. At this time, I do not have an idea in mind for companion!Dhavi that is anywhere near as satisfying to me as her as Inquisitor. If you also don't have an AU available where your Inquisitor isn't Inquisitor, I totally understand! We can focus on non-Inquisition threads or, if that's not something that interests you, we can just share headcanon questions and the like.

THE ANCHOR ✦  In Inquisition-era threads, she has the Anchor, a tie to the Fade on her left hand. It flares during magic use and occasionally during moments of high emotion or stress. It is able to affect fade rifts, both creating them and sealing them, though Dhavi's abilities with it are limited compared to someone who understands it better.As time progresses, the Anchor consumes more and more of the Inquisitor, creating a stronger tie between her and the Veil/Fade. She begins losing feeling in her left hand, but it is replaced with a more keen ability to feel the Veil. By the time of Trespasser, it has begun to infect her left eye, causing her to struggle to see in the physical world as she begins to see into the Fade.While she has the Anchor, Dhavi's magic pool is also expanded. This means that while she has the Anchor, she is capable of stronger spells and maintaining spells for longer. At first this makes her magic difficult to control, like driving a vehicle with a much more powerful engine. After the Anchor is removed, her magic pool shrinks again, and she once more has difficulty controlling her magic as she readjusts.VIR'ABELASAN ✦  Dhavi drank of the Well of Sorrows, connecting her to the spirits of ancient elves who were once dedicated to Mythal. This bound her to Mythal's will but also gave her access to a wealth of ancient knowledge and a necessary connection to her people. It primarily manifests in the form of voices only she can hear, speaking in a tongue she can't fully understand. By the time of Veilguard, she has learned better how to communicate with them, but it's still not perfect. She gets ideas more than concrete explanations.The Vir'abelasan also has an effect on Dhavi's magic pool (this is fully canon, information for which can be found in dialogue with Vivienne). Once again, her magic pool is expanded, allowing her to cast more powerful spells and maintain them for longer.[ vg spoilers ] During Veilguard, Dhavi teams up with Morrigan to craft an Amulet of the Unbound to counteract the geas found within the Vir'abelasan, mitigating Mythal's control over Dhavi. This was not possible during Inquisition, because Mythal's memories are what allowed Dhavi and Morrigan to understand how the magic was originally woven in order to work against it.

The Vir'abelasan is still part of Dhavi, and if her Amulet of the Unbound were destroyed/dispelled, she could be returned to Mythal's service, but more importantly her magic pool is still expanded by it. It is not significant enough to put her on the level of Solas or any Evanuris, but with it, she is more powerful than the average mage.MAGIC ✦  Obviously, Dhavi is a mage, and this gives her access to magical abilities in Dragon Age settings. She was trained to be a Keeper from a very young age, and her primary training with magic stems still from that. For the purposes of my portrayal, Keeper magic is primarily protection-focused. Even before Inquisition, the barriers she can cast are larger than average or denser than average.Her magic otherwise tends towards plant-based magics and fire-elemental magics.ARCANE SWORD ✦  As an Arcane Warrior, Dhavi does not use a staff. She instead carries on her person a small rod-like implement (that looks suspiciously like the hilt of a sword) that, during combat, emits a spectral blade. The blade can be called only by other Arcane Warriors, but it can be called by any Arcane Warrior. As she is losing feeling in her left hand before she picks up the specialization, she wields her sword in her non-dominant right hand. NOTE I do not use the term Knight-Enchanter, as Dhavi's draw to the specialization is due to the elvhen history tied to it. She is an Arcane Warrior, not a Knight-Enchanter.Dhavi's sword, Bria'inerilan, is a weapon of a long-dead ancient elf who was once a Spirit of Protection. It was originally crafted for service in the Titan Wars, before being used in service of Andruil, and eventually in Solas' Rebellion.Dhavi also uses combination of Mark of the Rift and Aegis of the Rift to craft a shield out of a piece of the Veil itself. After Trespasser, this is attached to a prosthetic limb so she can continue fighting with it. It is the only prosthetic limb Dhavi uses.

9:13 Dragon - 9:23 Dragon ✦ A small child no older than 2 summers is found near the wreckage of a pair of city elves that had been attacked on the road. Clan Lavellan takes her in, naming her Dhavihal in honor of the halla who led them to her. Although no single family adopts her, the entire clan acts as mother, father, aunt, and uncle to her. She is 8 summers old when she first shows signs of magic, and 12 summers old when she is told she will one day be the Clan's Keeper.

9:23 Dragon - 9:30 Dragon ✦ Dhavi had many friends growing up in the lands the shemlen called Ferelden, but among the most special were a girl named Nirasha, who was like a sister to her, and a girl named Salladin, who became Dhavi's first love. As Dhavi learned to carve from Varnehn, the Clan's Halla-keeper, the first thing she chose to carve from Halla antler was a ring to give to Sal as a gift. It was simple, and ended up being too big, but it was well-treasured, until the Fifth Blight swept through Ferelden. The Clan believed they were far enough away from it, until tunnels thought to be caved in burst with Darkspawn. Salladin, who was being trained as a warrior, took a swipe meant for Dhavi and perished. The Clan was forced to relocate from Ferelden after that.

9:30 Dragon - 9:41 Dragon ✦ Dhavi came of age as they arrived in new lands, and she was the first to be dedicated to the pantheon in their new home. She selected Ghilan'nain, in honor of the Halla who found her and her role as guide for the Clan. The next eleven years passed largely without incident. The Clan followed the Halla, they attended an Arlathvhen, they avoided the humans. Dhavi was slowly trained in the matters of both leadership and magic, both combat and healing. Then word came that one of the shemlen Chantries had been attacked, and there was fighting between the mages and their jailors. When Keeper Deshanna heard there would be a meeting to determine the course the shemlen should take, she sent Dhavi to spy and learn more.

9:41 Dragon - 9:44 Dragon ✦ An unfortunate accident at the Conclave while Dhavi was spying led to a strange mark on her hand. She became the only one who could close rifts forming in the Veil, and as a result was named first the Herald of Andraste and then the Inquisitor, much to her dismay. She spent every moment in power trying to return that power to people who really needed it, and preferred instead to focus on what needed doing. After Corypheus was defeated, the Veil was still torn, so Dhavi continued her work as Inquisitor. Until Solas revealed he was the reason for it and that the Inquisition had gotten unwieldy in size, making corruption easy. Publicly, Dhavi disbanded the Inquisition, but she wasn't ready to let Solas win, so they continued operating as a small, quiet force from the shadows.

9:44 Dragon - 9:51 Dragon ✦ When Dhavi returned to Clan Lavellan without her vallaslin, many members of the Clan feared the worst—that their precious Dhavihal had abandoned them for the Chantry and that her bare face was evidence of the power the shemlen held. What none of them expected was that Dhavi would stand before them with Keeper Deshanna to tell them that their gods had been tyrants and the Dread Wolf a freedom fighter. A mixture of emotions overtook the Clan as they watched Dhavi remove Deshanna's vallaslin and then offer to do the same for others. Some approved, some stayed but kept their vallaslin, others left. And at the next Arlathvhen, in 9:46 Dragon, they told the other Keepers. Clans shuffled as some abandoned their vallaslin and others marked Dhavi and her people as traitors and cultists.

9:51 Dragon - 9:52 Dragon ✦ Deshanna passed away peacefully in her sleep one night, leaving Dhavihal as the new Keeper of Clan Lavellan. The responsibilities of Keeper and self-proclaimed Inquisitor weighed on her, and as conflict with Solas started to reach a head, Dhavi knew she couldn't be the one to face him—he knew her too well, and her heart was always a threat. She instructed Varric to find someone he could trust to join the Inner Circle of the Inquisition, to become its leader and face, to face Solas. He found Rook, but things started to go awry when Solas's ritual to tear down what remained of the Veil began. After an encounter with Ghilan'nain in Tevinter, Dhavi began going by Dhavi'fen, meaning wolf-kissed.

VEILGUARD SPOILERS FOLLOW - This is an Elvhenan-based AU available upon request-only, meaning that you must express interest in it or I will not assume any of our interactions are intended for it. The basic description of this AU is that Dhavi was a Spirit of Love brought through to act as a propaganda piece for Ghilan'nain after her ascension and subsequent decline into crueler forms of experimentation. Dhavi dons a vigilante persona to combat the gods without risking connecting her rebel activities to her day-to-day identity.
